The latest version builds on the test-winning pedigree of the original SILEX but adds even more off-road capability, thanks to a slacker head angle and boosted tyre clearance of up to 700x45 mm or even 42 mm with fenders. Merida combined that confident mountain bike-inspired handling with all-surface versatility so that it is utterly stable when loaded up with luggage but still fast and fun when you put the hammer down.
The SILEX 7000 pairs it’s incredibly off-road capable CF2 II carbon frame and fork with Shimano’s benchmark GRX 12-speed mechanical groupset and a reliable Easton EA70 AX aluminium wheelset to deliver a high-performance but superb value gravel adventure machine. Merida Silex Bike Sizing Chart
Merida is an international bike brand with its headquarters in Taiwan, the R&D department is based near Stuttgart in Germany. To be based in Germany has historical reasons for MERIDA but the precise location was chosen specifically because the region around Stuttgart is one of the hot spots of the automotive and machine building industry which Germany is famous for and attracts a hugely skilled design and engineer labor force.
The Merida team are more than just highly trained and experienced bicycle creators – they simply love everything ‘bike’. Most of their R&D staff are daily bike commuters while others are serious mountain bikers, who regularly compete in Marathon, Enduro and Downhill competitions, or licensed road racers and even ambitious Ironman triathletes.
