The Espresso CC range is the rugged sibling of the regular Espresso City, with powerful motors, large capacity batteries and grippier high-volume tyres on 650b wheels. While it's happy working hard in the urban jungle thanks to standard-fit mudguards, lights, lock, rack and kickstand, it's also capable of taking trips along forest trails and gravel tracks for fun.
Rugged enough for the countryside, tough enough for the city Espresso CC EQ 575 pairs the powerful Shimano EP6 drive unit with a high-capacity 750Wh battery that sits in Merida’s Energy Cradle frame design. It combines the convenience of an external battery with the looks of an internal battery in order to keep the handling safe and secure. They've also fitted tough 650b wheels with comfortable and grippy high-volume tyres that help take the sting out the bumps, along with a Suntour suspension fork and suspension seatpost for premium rider comfort. Rounding off this versatile build is a reliable Shimano Cues 10 speed drivetrain and MTB specific Shimano hydraulic disc brakes for better brake control in all conditions. Plus, they’ve also added in the convenience of full guards, a rack, lights, lock and a kickstand.

Merida Electric Trekking Bike Sizing Chart
Merida is an international bike brand with its headquarters in Taiwan, the R&D department is based near Stuttgart in Germany. To be based in Germany has historical reasons for MERIDA but the precise location was chosen specifically because the region around Stuttgart is one of the hot spots of the automotive and machine building industry which Germany is famous for and attracts a hugely skilled design and engineer labor force.
The Merida team are more than just highly trained and experienced bicycle creators – they simply love everything ‘bike’. Most of their R&D staff are daily bike commuters while others are serious mountain bikers, who regularly compete in Marathon, Enduro and Downhill competitions, or licensed road racers and even ambitious Ironman triathletes. Get the behind the scenes view of the Merida R&D centre and meet some of their key members of staff in the below video.
